Business Problem Solved

In January 2016, PEA launched “PEA Mobile”, a mobile GIS application on iOS and Android which allows PEA customers to check payment due, find and navigate to PEA’s payment service locations with GIS map augmented reality (AR). PEA Mobile also allows everyone to report a power outage with either a registered meter number or current location. There are huge numbers of PEA Mobile downloads since it was launched. This is one of various innovative services that PEA provides to customers.

Technology Implemented

In May 2017, PEA Mobile will be rebranded as PEA SmartPlus. Mobile payment and other features will be available in this release. PEA will continuously leverage GIS technology throughout the organization according to PEA’s vision - “Provincial Electricity Authority is a leading organization of international standards, modernity and efficiency doing business in energy, services and related businesses.”
In conclusion, PEA has successfully leveraged Enterprise AM/FM GIS for operations and planning. GIS is becoming more important in PEA Smart Grid development as the single source of PEA’s electric distribution network model for other smart grid components. Furthermore, PEA provides various innovative and convenient services for customers through PEA One Touch and PEA Mobile.
