Aurecon

Project Goal

As well as visualisation of construction and engineering projects, Aurecon has created an innovative approach to 3D design modelling, review and collaboration across our major projects. We use Geospatial technologies to create a simple and comprehensible interface to multiple complex datasets that are available to all project teams at the appropriate level of detail. We use this information to enhance safety in the engineering environment, reduce the risk of errors in engineering projects and improve productivity and value from their asset portfolios through digital transformation.

Business Problem Solved

Our focus and vision at Aurecon is to enable visual collaboration across our project teams and stakeholders on all our major construction, transport and environmental projects. We present complex 3D information across multiple disciplines in a single web collaboration environment. We deploy Esri technologies as the geospatial solution that underpins the collaboration platform and provides a geo-location engine that gives a common frame of reference to our project information. We have successfully won a number of large digital engineering projects through innovative thinking and delivering connected digital platforms for clients. Our primary area of expertise has been in developing custom solutions to translate and integrate multiple BIM models with other contextual datasets and to keep these datasets updated in near real time.

Technology Implemented

We utilise multiple Esri tools in order to facilitate both the production and visualisation of our project information. We are particularly reliant on the use of 3D information and, as a result, we have been early adopters of platforms including Esri CityEngine, ArcScene and ArcGIS Pro. Our global ELA is also used in over 30 countries to facilitate desktop mapping and analysis.

Our Enterprise GIS team have been deploying ESRI solutions using Azure Cloud technology for several years and have been early users of the Cloud Builder toolkit and other server extensions including the GeoEvent Processor and Image Server.
