Since its inception, KAHRAMAA has operated as an independent corporation on a commercial basis with a total capital of four billion Qatari riyals. In the Water distribution sector KAHRAMAA operates with 7,375 kilometers of Water Mains and total of 32 storage reservoirs with a total installed capacity of 975.7 million gallons of water a day. In the Electricity distribution sector KAHRAMAA operates with 327 primary high voltage substations connected by a total of 1,800 Km of Primary Overhead Transmission Lines and 3,000 Km of underground HV cable networks. The network is coupled with 15,200 Medium voltage substations (11 kV) and more than 14,100 kilometers of cable lines.

Business Problem Solved

Lack of complete and reliable assets information which was installed prior to year 2005 in GIS Database was hindering in its objectives to support end users in efficient asset management and resulting damages to KAHRAMAA’s Assets.
In Phase one and with the mapping of underground utilities project, KAHRAMAA was able to input missing assets and related information in an enterprise GeoDatabase. This initiative has improved KAHRAMAA GIS Data accuracy and built a foundation for implementing Facility Management tools which took place in the second phase.
Phase two started by Integrating PSS®SINCAL with GIS and exchange data between GIS/SCADA, Create a model for the entire 33/22/11/0.433 kV distribution network in PSS-SINCAL to enable electric analysis, and recommend best practices in Network Planning.
Then KAHRAMAA-GIS moved to the ArcFM implementation for achieving data quality with lower revision cycles, WEB Modules, User Access Control, data availability and efficient communications.
