Business Problem

Geauga County envisioned a county wide enterprise GIS utilizing data from and providing problem solving tools to all county departments. This vision took form as a Public Access System allowing both the public and county staff access to all data made available through the GIS. In keeping with the vision Geauga County Commissioners approved the purchase of a copy of ArcView for all township and village offices in the county. This made it very affordable for local officals to have a very powerful tool available for their use, while fostering data sharing between the county and the local township offices. To date Geaugas PAS is installed in over 50 offsite locations as well as the main county offices. Due to the overwhelming acceptance of the PAS Geauga County is curently looking to an Internet Solution to replace the currently used ArcView Application.

Technology Implemented

Geauga County has used ESRI Software for the developement and maintence of all aspects of this project. ArcInfo is used to maintain the data while the Public Access System is an Avenue Enhanced ArcView Application. Geauga County and ESRI developed the initial interface that has since been made available as a template free to any county wishing to use it for further developemnt.
