Pacific Biodiversity InstituteView Photo of Award Presentation View Interactive Map of SAG Winners 2001PBI has provided scientific and technical support to over 100 conservation efforts across the US. Recent projects include: roadless area mapping throughout the US, natural resource profiles and conservation prioritization. Business Problem The conservation community is often hampered by inadequate information and resources to tackle the complicated environmental problems facing us today. Widespread ecosystem disruption and species extinction are increasingly complex challenges. Advanced technological and scientific resources can make an enormous difference in the impact conservationists have. We provide that critical support, giving conservationists the science and technology to successfully advocate for the protection of our remaining wild lands and wild creatures. Technology Implemented PBI uses a wide variety of GIS and remote sensing software/hardware components to conduct advanced landscape analysis for the conservation community. We use ARCInfo, ARCView, ARCIMS, ERDAS image processing software, LizardTech MrSID image compression and many other software applications. We also rely heavily on Hewlett-Packard computer and printer technologies.
