Business Problem

The conservation community is often hampered by inadequate information and resources to tackle the complicated environmental problems facing us today. Widespread ecosystem disruption and species extinction are increasingly complex challenges. Advanced technological and scientific resources can make an enormous difference in the impact conservationists have. We provide that critical support, giving conservationists the science and technology to successfully advocate for the protection of our remaining wild lands and wild creatures.

Technology Implemented

PBI uses a wide variety of GIS and remote sensing software/hardware components to conduct advanced landscape analysis for the conservation community. We use ARCInfo, ARCView, ARCIMS, ERDAS image processing software, LizardTech MrSID image compression and many other software applications. We also rely heavily on Hewlett-Packard computer and printer technologies.

Development Team Biography

Peter Morrison, executive director. Peter has extensive experience in conservation science and wildland resource issues and is an expert in spatial analysis, ecology and conservation biology.
Jason Karl, wildlife ecologist, GIS lab manager. Jason was formerly a GIS analyst for the Idaho GAP program and the GIS lab manager for University of Idahos Landscape Dynamics Lab.
Lindsey Swope, geographer, GIS analyst. Lindsey is a former GIS analyst for Microsoft and King County.
Kathleen Ackley, communications director. Kathleen has assisted several non-profit organizations with policy analysis and communications.
Teresa Allen, office manager, accountant. Teresa has over 12 years experience managing businesses.
