Level 3 Communications, Kiewit Network Services,

Multi-billion dollar construction project to build Level 3 Communications fiber optic telecommunication network.

Business Problem

Creation of web enabled construction/operation status tool and asset inventory depository of a world wide, multi-billion dollar, fiber optic telecommunication network for both OSP and ISP scopes of work. The business requirements ranged from the practical, cost effective collection of raw data in the field to the final interface with head office based, enterprise level information systems.

Technology Implemented

We used a variety of ESRI products to collect/process and post telecommunication network information to a master data repository that was, viewable over a large intranet to a large variety of users. These ESRI products included:
ArcView and Avenue Scripts
ArcInfo and AML scripts
ArcIMS
Map Object applications
SDE with Oracle
