Business Problem The Department of Revenue has historically played a lead role in the development and standardization of many geographic based systems throughout Wyoming.
One of the major challenges of this type of program is the promotion and encouragement of other state and local jurisdictions to fund and actively participate in GIS-related programs.
This approach helps establish a foundation for many agencies in the development of geographic based information systems. This greatly extends the technical expertise of the participating agencies and accelerates their individual development and implementation of GIS. Moreover, this allows participating agencies to develop data that is critical, not only to their own organizations, but to the Department of Revenue as well.
Ultimately, the development and availability of a larger variety of data sets has greatly improved Wyoming's ability to analyze critical tax related issues. Technology Implemented The implementation of this project included the use of ArcInfo, ArcView, ArcExplorer, Data Automation Kit, ArcIMS, visual basic, various database architectures and web applications.
