Business Problem

As the 2000 Real Estate revaluation approached, it was clear that GIS could greatly enhance the Assessor’s CAMA system. This allowed the Assessors to apply GIS technology to spatially represent trends and comparative sales in real estate. This alone has given the Assessor’s Office the tools to fairly and effectively perform completely in-house revaluation, saving the City of Milford millions of dollars.

Simultaneously, the Milford Fire Department was applying GIS to their day-to-day operations, from generating map books and full size wall maps to establishing the locations of hydrants and general maintenance of building information. This has since escalated to a state-of-the-art mobile GIS and Pre-Plan system.

The success of these two projects has spawned a new interest in GIS and how it can be applied in every department.
