Business Problem

The challenge was to create parcel maps from the recorded deeds, plats and existing paper maps. This would allow the Assessor’s office to more accurately locate parcels in the county and produce legible quarter section maps for the public to view and purchase.

Secondly there was a need to connect the Assessor’s CAMA (Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal) software with the GIS parcel data so that we could do queries such as sales in a particular area. We also wanted the capability to share data with the other county offices and the public via the intranet and internet. Plans are underway to add more layers to our current parcel layer. And migrate to and enterprise Geo Data base.

Technology Implemented

The Assessor’s office has 3 licenses of ArcInfo, to do our core mapping and a ESRI partner third party software called Parcel Mapper from SDS INC. We are using ArcIms for our intranet use and SDE for connection to our cama data.
