Business Problem HONU was developed to centralize and improve access to information that is needed by Honolulu Board of Water Supply (HBWS) staff to perform their daily activities. HONU provides a single interface to information stored in three critical systems: GIS, CIS and EDMS. In addition to searching and identifying GIS features, the users can: search the linked customer database; view document images such as scanned construction drawings, field sketches, water service documents and tax assessment documents; perform color-coding on-the-fly based on a user selected layer and attribute; convert GIS data to DXF format; and create and print customer maps and customized reports. Technology Implemented ArcIMS v. 4.0 is supplemented by Microsoft SQL Server 2000 for CIS data and saved map extents, FileNET for image documents, and Arcv2CAD for DXF conversion. The program code is ArcXML, JavaScript, and ASP. A Dynamic Link Library, FileNet image viewer, a custom font, custom graphics, and cascading style sheet were also used. The host server has dual Intel Pentium III, 1 GHz processors with 1 GB RAM, Microsoft IIS 5.0 web server and Servlet Exec 4.1.1 installed. Users have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.
