Project Goal

The Otay Water District is seeking to provide integration between GIS and other key business systems to allow GIS information to assist in infrastructure planning and maintenance.

Business Problem Solved

Gaining consensus among all users to utilize GIS as the foundation for the planning and facilities maintenance processes.

Technology Implemented

ESRI's water modeling (UML) is used as the prototype for Otay's database design. ArcGIS and SQL based ArcSDE are the foundation for database integration with other RDMS system such as infrastructure management, billing, permit and other enterprise components. Microsoft .NET technology is used for ArcIMS based GIS web publishing.

Development Team Biography

Ms. Ming Zhao holds professional degrees in engineering and GIS, and has provided services to the transporattion and utility industries.

Geoffrey Stevens is the Chief Information Officer and provides strategic and technology planning services to the agency.
