AmSouth Bank

Project Goal

To improve GIS capabilities, acquire business intelligence data in a single high-value bundle, and integrate the data and technology with the Bank's existing decision support systems.


Business Problem Solved

AmSouth uses the ESRI Business Analyst to develop information about communities and markets, and integrates that information with internal data about the Bank’s customers and operations. This provides a macro or top level view for management decision support.

At a micro level, Business Analyst can profile individual customers and branch trade areas, and supports the Bank in aggressively competing for retail and commercial business. GIS can help demonstrate that AmSouth is more convenient than its competitors based on specific customer location(s). And it is a very powerful tool to help determine why the best locations are the best locations, and to find more like them -- and just as importantly, to understand why branches underachieve and how to avoid those conditions.
