Project Goal

To provide GIS services and data analysis to all city departments, city council and citizens that will assist in making better decisions for our community.

Business Problem Solved

Our basemap data was collected from aerial photography. The information includes building footprints, edges of pavement, sidewalks, parking lots, trees, rivers & drainiage, contours, poles, trails, street centerlines and city owned utilities. The GIS Division has completed projects to provide information on building permits, utility billing, assessor data information, traffic accidents, traffic signs & counts, street maintenance, sanitation routes, utility maintenance, zoning and addressing.

Technology Implemented

We are currently using ArcInfo, Arc Editor, ArcView, and ArcSDE for SQL. For mobile data applicatios we use ArcPad on Compaq IPAQ units. ArcReader is used to allow access for the police, fire departments, the 911 dispatch center, utility locates and code enforcement. Applications run on Windows XP. We use various Trimble units for GPS data collection.
