Maryland State Highway Administration and Maryland Association of CountiesView Photo(s) of Award Presentation Project Goal
The Cooperative Centerline Program is a data sharing process between the State Highway Administration and local governments. Many entities collect information about the roads in our State. Using a common centerline allows better exchange of information about the roadway system, gives each entity a common model when referring to the system, and provides opportunities for more efficient collection of information about that roadway asset. Business Problem Solved
The problems we tackled include: identification of data entities needed by all entities involved, and finding a standard way to define those so that everyone has something useful without the overhead of maintaining data just for purposes of exchange or maintaining data outside their jurisdictional boundaries. Technology Implemented
Several technologies are being used to help with this exchange all of which are within desktop ArcGIS and ArcObjects. Development Team Biography
