Project Goal

BNSF Railway needed GIS information about our rail network to support various safety critcal initiatives. A Change Management Process was required for making editing changes to support our "real time" infrastucture projects.

Business Problem Solved

Several new business applications required spatial and linear referanced location information of the BNSF railroad infrastructure. These included the Hy-Rail Limits Compliance System (HLCS), Electronic Train Management System (ETMS), Locomotive Network Simulation, Geo-Coded Weather Alert System, new dynamic and static ArcIMS websites, and general mapping applications.

Technology Implemented

GPS equipment from Trimble, Magellan, OmniStar broadcast differential service, ArcSDE for MS SQL Server and IBM DB2, ArcIMS, ArcGIS, MicroSoft C#, MS VB, and Java.
