Business Problem Solved
All of the city’s departments use GIS as a tool in some form for decision making. See below for examples:
Administration Department leverages city’s intranet ArcIMS site (iMap) and GIS address point data with its utility billing software. (Summer 2007)
Community Development Department uses GIS for planning, zoning, development review, and 3D visualization.
Fire/EMS Department uses GIS for drive-time analysis.
Parks and Recreation uses GIS to identify snow removal maintenance for city trails and street cul-de-sacs.
Police Department use GIS to identify restricted residency areas for sex offenders.
Public Library uses recreation grade GPS for its annual Geocaching event. Patron data is annually geocoded to identify any service gaps within the city.
Public Works uses GIS to assist in its sidewalk repair, mosquito control and right-of-way mowing programs. Public Works manages the city’s infrastructure with Cityworks.
