Alaska Department of Fish & GameView Photo(s) of Award Presentation Project Goal
Our goal is to provide GIS data, applications and products for the public, research and management staff, and other agencies on a number of wildlife and fisheries issues. This includes but is not limited to geographic data, static maps, ArcSDE data, ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server Web sites, and custom ArcPad applications. Getting timely information out to residents spread out across the State of Alaska, as well as non-residents visiting the state from around the world, is a daunting task. The Internet has changed all this. We now convey complex regulations and geographic boundaries as static and/or interactive maps via the Internet. There are still other data, maps and analysis requirements for internal staff that we generate as needed. Technology Implemented
ArcInfo/ArcView 9.2 (workstation and ArcGIS) with ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS 3D Analyst, ArcGIS Tracking Analyst, ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst, MPS Atlas and Publisher extensions, ArcIMS 9.2 , ArcGIS Server 9.2 (both .Net and Java), ArcSDE 9.2 for MSSQL, and ArcPad 7.0.1. We also use ColdFusion MX for our dynamic GIS web pages and customized ArcIMS applications. We use IIS 6.0 and TomCat 5.5 for our ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server applications. Development Team Biography
