Hamilton Southeastern Utilities - An Enterprise Information Management Based Operation
Track: Implementing Survey Data in GIS
Author(s): Brian Berdanier

Hamilton Southeastern Utilities and Sanitary Management and Engineering Company (HSE/SAMCO) is a public-private partnership providing sanitary sewer infrastructure to a suburban area just northeast of Indianapolis, Indiana.

In 2005 we presented a GIS that HSE/SAMCO began implementing in 1991. Since 2005, HSE/SAMCO has moved beyond an organization utilizing GIS in the traditional sense to an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) based operation.

Utilizing and integrating continued advances in hardware and software technologies has provided HSE/SAMCO with the ability to further increase their abilities to respond to service requests, while lowering their cost to do business on a day-to-day basis. HSE/SAMCO has implemented process improvements that have streamlined the day-to-day data management tasks and moved the enterprise to a true paperless environment. These improvements have helped increase the efficiency at which data is available, as well as, cut data management operational cost nearly 33% on an annual basis.
