NILS 5.0 Overview

The BLM's National Integrated Land System (NILS) provides a business solution to land managers who face an increasingly complex environment of complicated transactions, legal challenges, and deteriorating and difficult-to-access records. To date the NILS workflow has been a job creation and tracking system for NILS jobs, although in Version 5.0, NILS will utilize ESRI's Job Tracking Extension which is a workflow management application designed to improve the efficiency of any multiuser GIS application. In addition to this, the existing NILS transaction and LR2000 data models and applications will be extended to support USFS business needs, as well as Metes and Bounds data. NILS 5.0 will implement additional Parcel Management functions to support additional case groups and survey types as well.
