A GIS Based Urban Storm Drain Data Management System
Track: Engineering Design and Construction
Author(s): Ken Lewis, Tracy Lenocker

Civil engineers and urban planners associated with urban drainage often work with different tools for the analysis, design and management of the urban drainage system. This presentation will examine the integration of CAD, GIS and a drainage design management system which integrates the agency’s methods and procedures to provide a tool for urban drainage management. It provides for hydrologic modeling and hydraulic analysis, supports new development, manages existing systems, and provides a uniform process for agency review and approval. Examples will include solutions for Maricopa County, Arizona, Clark County, Nevada, the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District, California and the cities of Long Beach, Laguna Beach, and Westminster, California.
