Project Goal

The goal of the Bonds Accountability project was to provide public access to information on where state agencies were investing bond act dollars. This web based application needed to be easy to use and provide both map and textual information.

Business Problem Solved

We were faced with the challenge of spatially enabling an existing web enabled tabular database without making excessive demands on the hosting organization. We did this by building a companion geo-warehouse that could provide web map services to the existing solution. This allowed the hosting organization to easily embed mapping capabilities into their existing data entry screens. We were also able to put up a service to validate street addresses that contributed to overall data quality.

Technology Implemented

We used ArcGIS Server 9.2 tools to build and operate a geo-warehouse and related web services. This enabled our single ESRI GIS developer to use .NET development tools to rapidly build and deploy this application.
