Project Goal

To create an intranet mapping portal framework for dynamic discovery of enterprise data and digital documents associated to location features. The intent was to increase productivity and efficiency by providing a tool to more quickly answer citizen or staff questions about a location. The solution was initially designed for the property development review process but is now being used city wide.

Business Problem Solved

GIPSE (Geographic Information Portal System for Everyone) provides front line city staff with a tool that centralizes many enterprise systems’ data and digital documents tied to location features (such as addresses, subdivisions, quarter sections, and annexations). Users are able to quickly access information from multiple systems via an easy to use map centric user interface. The configurable solution dynamically presents data from city enterprise systems such as permitting, tax and licensing, code enforcement, and animal care (the list continues to grow). GIPSE also displays location associated digital documents from the city’s document management system. A user can select an area and drill into the activities (example: subdivision permits), summary information (example: address zoning value), or digital documents (example: civil drawings) associated to the features within the user defined area(s).
