Business Problem Solved

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough encompasses about 25,000 square miles - roughly the size of West Virginia. The Borough has been the fastest growing area in Alaska for the past 15 years an the 28th fastest growing community in the nation. This high growth rate and expansive land area required the Borough to provide more services, in the best effective manner, to its citizens. The Borough relied on GIS technology to help meet these new demands. An enterprise-wide GIS solution provides the benefits of a streamlined system, which incorporates all of the Borough’s information within one tightly integrated system. This new system helps improves the accuracy and integrity of geographic information, reduces duplicative work tasks, reduces data redundancy, provides efficient and timely data sharing, improves the planning and decision-making processes, while increasing overall productivity and efficiency within the organization.
