Project Goal

ADM is a diverse and global agribusiness. With locations and employees around the world, there are a lot of opportunities to leverage GIS technology to assist with daily operations and add to the ADM value chain. GIS was originally introduced as a business analysis tool. However, the value of the technology became so compelling that it emerged out of a single seat desktop license to a team of GIS professionals providing a variety of hard copy and server-based solutions throughout the company. GIS is now used to address business needs for origination analysis, transportation optimization, processing analysis, destination visualization and sales & marketing analysis.

Business Problem Solved

Projects for site selection and optimal location analysis have proved very valuable, and simple online tools have given rise to full-blown server applications giving access to vast amounts of information to users. GIS-based analysis projects include emergency response coordination with local officials, customer relations and logistics optimization. With the vast amount of information needed for daily business operations, GIS technology has proven to be a powerful medium for data visualization.

Technology Implemented
