Project Goal
The aim of the GR-Atlas project is the creation of a digital thematic atlas for the Greater Region consisting of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Wallonia region, the Lorraine region, and the German Länder Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate.Business Problem Solved
The major challenge is the creation of a database containing multiple thematic maps of the trans-border Greater Region.
Another issue was the implementation of a Graphical User Interface which allows an easy and intuitive navigation as well as the possibility to freely combine the different thematic layers.
Technology Implemented
For the spatial data, ESRI ArcGIS Server Enterprise and Microsoft SQL Server are used. The scientific commentaries and additional information about the maps are organized with the content management system Joomla!
