Project Goal

TANAP carries out its activities with the mission of constructing and operating a natural gas pipeline with a high transmission capacity in compliance with international standards for quality, occupational health and safety, and with social and environmental standards, with the aim being to transmit Azerbaijani natural gas to buyers in Turkey and Europe in a reliable and cost-effective manner. In doing so, TANAP contributes to the further development of the existing political and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union – Azerbaijan having emerged as an alternative source of gas, and Turkey’s second-largest gas supplier.
By increasing the energy security of Turkey and Europe, TANAP brings Azerbaijan, Turkey and the EU closer together, reshaping the global geopolitical energy landscape with the potential it offers. This geopolitical feature of TANAP serves as a source of inspiration for future energy projects.

Business Problem Solved

The reciprocity of data, the need to access and share data in field and office work.
The need to monitor field work momentarily.
The need exists to combine data from different geographical regions and disciplines during route selection.

Technology Implemented

Initiate with ArcMap and proceed with ArcPro and Enterprise. Linner referencing, Cartography tools, Data management tools, 3D analysis tools, Feature Map services, Image services, Dashboards, Experience Builder and Field Maps.

Development Team Biography

Recep Özdogan,
Senior Geographical Information System Specialist, TANAP Natural Gas Transmission Corp.
He started his professional life as a project engineer in 2009. Thereafter, he worked on Dam, mining and pipeline projects in 2012. Since 2013, he has been working in the TANAP Pipeline corporation in the various works of design, construction and operation phases. Now, he is working on GIS and spatial data management as a Senior Geographical Information System Specialist.
Ali Ipek
Lead Integrity Engineer, TANAP Natural Gas Transmission Corp.
He started his professional life at the Nabucco Project in 2011. Thereafter, he worked as a highway/railway design engineer in 2013. Since 2014, he has been working in the TANAP Pipeline corporation at the various works of design, construction and operation phases. Now, he is working on onshore-offshore pipeline inspections, spatial data management, GIS, digital twins and RoW change detection issues as Lead Integrity Engineer-Geomatics.
