Project Goal

Newborn Screening is a public health program for the early detection of heritable disorders that if left undetected or untreated can lead to mental retardation or death. The Newborn Screening Portal provides easy access to newborn screening data or key indicators for use of 1) program implementers across the country in their planning, monitoring and evaluation, and 2) major stakeholders such as our Ministry of Health, Philippine Health Insurance, and the National Institutes of Health Philippines for key decision making. It shows the status of the program on a national, regional down to city level. It contains 3 dashboards about the status and locations of health facilities, laboratories et.al., Quality indicator data, and mapping of distribution of all disorders in the newborn screening panel across the country including a general view of the status of children saved. In the next years, it will provide different sets of story maps and also mapping for the birth defects registry.
