Project Goal

MMSD's goal is to maintain accessible, accurate, and current data related to structures and assets within our Sewer Service Area and at our two Water Reclamation Facilities (WRF). We utilize ArcGIS Enterprise, OnBase, T4 and BIM tools to map 2D and 3D assets. The ArcGIS platform is the tie that integrates disparate systems together, supporting MMSD data workflows, projects, and initiatives. MMSD also utilizes ArcGIS solutions to share data with external partners, organizations, and the public.

Business Problem Solved

MMSD developed and implemented a WRF BIM Vision to realize benefits and efficiencies of 3D modeling and vertical asset lifecycle management. Leveraging ArcGIS Enterprise 3D geoprocessing tools and application solutions, MMSD created BIM Viewer applications that allow users to quickly find and efficiently access vertical asset information from separate systems of record. MMSD's BIM Viewers directly impact the District’s Digital Transformation plan as the organization expands opportunities towards a Digital Twin for WRF performance metrics, AI (artificial intelligence) development, predictive/augmented analytics to improve workflow efficiencies, budget forecasting, and return-on-investment for asset lifecycle management.
