Traditionally manual labour for field inventories has been used to screen larger geographical areas to assess ecological values and for quality assurance in terrain within E.On’s assests. This method is time consuming, expensive and conditioned by seasonal variation. Competent labour (biologists / ecologists etc) for hire is also a limiting factor for larger short term mapping.
Technology Implemented
We are now utilizing the whole platform from planning in the office using web applications and desktop to field operations and field management using dashboards, fieldmaps, survey123 and workforce to provide a seamless and digital workflow across the business and across many different countries engaging, soon to bee thousands of workers using SAMS to promote biodiversity and conducting their business in, not only a cost efficient way, but in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Development Team Biography
Mattias serves as the product owner of SAMS, a project born from his visionary leadership. With a tenure at Eon that spans from 2012, Mattias has garnered substantial experience in steering complex initiatives. Since 2020, a robust team of subject matter experts has collaborated under his guidance to materialize the vision behind SAMS. Mattias's academic background includes a Master of Science in forestry, and prior to his current role, he held responsibilities as the overseer of the regional grid within E.ON Energy Networks Sweden.
