Implementation of the Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS) at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) aims to transform HKIA to be a Smart Airport for higher operating efficiency in terminal workforce management and facilities management, maintenance so as to respond to rapid air traffic growth and continuous improving passenger services. Business Problem Solved

The 5 GIS applications including Airfield Ground Light, High Mast Lighting, Airfield Pavement, Portable Water, and Sewer System have greatly improved efficiency of daily management of facilities with maintenance status. These helped in analysing, simulating and visualizing the impact of services interruption to other business areas, such as terminal facility management and retail. Also, a new GIS workflow application named Airport Work Management System (AWMS) has been implemented for planning control and effective monitoring of the Work Permit and Work Order related works for whole airport island with spatial information. With the success of AWMS, other GIS operation transformation workflow applications are being developed. Lastly, with integration to BIM and Airport Asset Management System (AAMS), it enables a real time representation of the airport in a 3D perspective, helping in the design, construction and asset management processes while facilitating management of workfore

Technology Implemented

EGIS at HKIA has integrated with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Airport Asset Management System (AAMS). EGIS consists of both desktop and web-based GIS systems, which utilize ArcGIS software including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS 3D Analyst, ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS Data Interoperability for ArcGIS
