Project Goal
The main goal for the Zabka Group was to build a modern expansion of convenience store chain, capable to drive up the company's extremely dynamic growth in a very short time. The main tasks were to improve operational efficiency while minimizing the risk of new investments through decision support in location selection with new tools.Business Problem Solved
Esri tools have enabled the Zabka Group's Expansion Department to collect, analyze and present geospatial data, resulting in increased business efficiency and further company development. This was achieved through the optimization of the store location acquisition process, which increased the efficiency of field staff by aggregating property availability, competitor data and socio-demographic environment in one application. This minimized the risk of errors in store location selection. Esri streamlined the analysis of demographic and economic data, allowing for more precise determination of the potential of a given location and appropriate adaptation of the store's offer to meet customer needs. This contributed to the increased competitiveness of the company. Furthermore, the continuously expanding central geospatial database allows for easy, comprehensive and rapid presentation of data from different perspectives, facilitating better decision-making and utilization of "white spots."
Technology Implemented
Zabka's cooperation with Esri Polska started in 2018. ArcGIS was implemented on a large scale to support Zabka's retail expansion process. The solution architecture uses both the SaaS and On-Premises models, includes third-party solutions and data integrations. The solution is based on ArcGIS Enterprise Standard with Creator and Viewer roles and it is integrated with ArcGIS Online services to provide access to maps, road networks and statistical data. ArcGIS Desktop Standard supports GIS power users. Based on ArcGIS Enterprise, Esri Polska developed dedicated applications for each role. The site selection process involves field data collection, statistical, behavioral and KPI data collection, as well as geo-statistical attraction models.
The solution has several integrations, including financial and predictive models from third parties. The system has over 100 users, including managers, analysts, field staff, and the Board of Directors.

Expansion Department Executive since 2016, responsible for building highly efficient team and streamlined processes to accelerate the Zabka chain's growth. Initiated Esri project implementation.
Dariusz Olszewski – Expansion support Manager (Project Manager)
Responsible for implementing the Esri system at Zabka Group, Dariusz played a vital role in digitalizing the processes of the Expansion Department, including increasing reporting capabilities.
Rafal Smyk – Expansion Advanced Analytics Coordinator (GIS Analyst)
GIS analyst, a graduate of Geoinformatics at Adam Mickiewicz University. Responsible for the correctness of spatial data and preparing concepts for implementing new functionalities in the project.
