Project Goal
This project aims to create a statewide database of multi-modal trails which can be used to determine gaps in the state's recreational trail system, plan projects, and prioritize funding to address those gaps. The hub site creates a collaborative space for managers from local, county and state government agencies and NGOs to share trail-based GIS information to use in planning development and maintenance projects and managing a statewide multi-modal trail system.Business Problem Solved
Disparate trails information was maintained within various agencies but no one, comprehensive, trails database was consistently maintained at the state level. This made planning development and funding of an interconnected multimodal system extremely difficult. This project enables GIS managers at the local level, county, and state agencies to directly update the database as new data and information becomes available.
