Project Goal

The main goal of this project was to provide current and actionable County fiscal appraisal and tax information and data to the citizens of Cuyahoga County. Our intent was to develop a site using Esri's Hub technology to meet the needs of current and potential land owners, taxing authorities and their staff, and citizens interested in learning more about how property is appraised and taxes are calculated and distributed. Ultimately the main goal of the site is to build trust in Cuyahoga County’s process surrounding property valuation, tax exemption, and tax distribution and disbursements.

Business Problem Solved

The Cuyahoga County Fiscal and Information Technology Departments wanted to leverage our investment in Esri’s Hub technology to build citizen trust around residential valuation and tax processes in Cuyahoga County. With that in mind, we build a hub site to feature data on recent residential sales, historic appraised values, current appraised values, tax distribution to all taxing authorities, and flood plain impacts for insurance planning.

We also explained in simple, easy-to-understand language the different types of property tax exemptions like TIFS and Abatements and created dashboards and metrics on tax revenue impacts broken down by taxing authorities.

We also wanted a place for all taxing authority fiscal officers and elected officials to obtain quick, current metrics regarding their specific tax disbursements and give them the ability to download current and historical settlement reports.
