Project Goal
The project leverages GIS technology to enhance the monitoring and regulation efforts of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) in the petroleum sector. GIS facilitates efficient data management, real-time monitoring of field operations, and regulation of petroleum operations, while also enhancing stakeholder engagement and conducting risk assessments. By harnessing GIS, the PAU aims to empower data-driven decision-making, promote regulatory compliance, and contribute to sustainable development while minimizing environmental impacts. This initiative creates lasting societal value and positions Uganda as an attractive investment destination for the oil and gas industry.Business Problem Solved
The business problem addressed by the project is the need for effective monitoring, regulation, and management of Uganda's petroleum activities by the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU). As Uganda's petroleum sector expands, there's a demand for accurate, accessible and timely data. Before GIS implementation, the PAU faced challenges in data management, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and risk assessment. GIS solutions streamline processes, improving monitoring, regulation, stakeholder engagement, and risk assessment. This enhances the PAU's ability to fulfill its mandate, promoting transparency, sustainability, and efficient operations in Uganda's petroleum sector.
Technology Implemented
Esri technology used for deploying the solution include ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS enterprise, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcGIS story maps, ArcGIS Dashboard.
