Project Goal
The goal of this project was to create a common platform that all area hospitals could utilize to report in real time the status of the Emergency Room's capability to accept new patient arrivals from Transporting EMS Agencies. The previous method was that all hospitals could go on various levels of "Diversion" which was communicated via a cell phone text group. This caused for no real live picture of a hospital's diversion status outside of the people in that text group and led to numerous communication issues. The introduction of ArcGIS allowed for a unified platform that hospital administrators and ER supervisors could access to update hospital diversion statuses. This in turn would transmit out to area EMS Providers and Dispatch centers in real time to alleviate ERs from being overcrowded resulting in long delays for EMS Crews to return to service.Business Problem Solved
Created a platform using Survey123 and ArcGIS Dashboards to allow hospitals to update their Diversion Status from Green, Yellow, Red and Black. Once a survey is submitted the hospital's status changes in real time on live dashboards visible to other hospitals, EMS Providers, and the public. Through using Make.com we were able to translate these survey submissions into automated email notifications, text message notifications, and notifications to the EMS Crews via Active911. Lastly, the robust data collected through the app allows us to retroactively look at all data from the hospitals to evaluate time spent on diversion, who updated statuses, and when they were updated.
Technology Implemented
ArcGIS Online, Survey123, WebApp Builder, ArcGIS Dashboards, Make.com integration from Survey123 to Gmail and Active911
