National Forest Center

Project Goal

Systematic management of spatial data implementation in the National Forest Centre with increasing support the principles of open data sharing. The project provides two key parts:
• greater automation of geospatial data services,
• creating a reference register of forest parcels.
The project enables the sharing of various map resources, data created using own remote sensing technologies and other geospatial data on forest lands. Key business services for automation of geospatial data services are:
• creation of geospatial data,
• consolidation of geospatial data,
• providing of geospatial data,
• life cycle of geospatial data management.
The project also includes the description of processes use for systematic management of geospatial data to achieve their high quality. The new way of processing forest management plans eliminate issues of data exchange process, increases the efficiency of communication and make data process transparent at any step of the process.

Business Problem Solved

• Implementation of a reform in the use of data by an organization that consists of a heterogeneous information environment and there was a need for internal integration and consolidation of data.
• Ensuring sufficient data quality in the information system of public administration in the organization and increasing the quality of published data.
• High administrative burden in the preparation of forest management plans.
• Expansion of the reference data.
• Ensuring the "once-only" principle.
• Ensuring the use of reference data in practice and increasing the availability of data in the form as open and shared.
• Creating, sharing and update additional open data, which will bring greater credibility and better access to National Forest centre data for experts and the public.
• Publishing and then update important datasets, such as Forest Land parcels (Forest Land), Register of Forest Spatial Division Units, Forest Management plans.
