Project Goal
In Mobile County, we envisioned a robust framework of five distinct Enterprise Portals, each tailored to the unique needs of individual agencies while fostering seamless data sharing. This architecture empowers agencies to set their own security standards, independently manage data, and isolate applications as needed. By creating this flexible yet interconnected system, we laid the groundwork for an addressing data management solution that multiple stakeholders can maintain. Each agency’s data formatting needs are respected, ensuring compatibility and collaboration. This framework not only meets current demands but also scales for future growth, breaking down barriers and uniting Mobile County’s agencies under a shared, efficient geospatial ecosystem.Business Problem Solved
Mobile County faced entrenched data silos and a pervasive lack of trust among agencies, stifling workflows and productivity. Critical information was locked away, inaccessible to those who needed it most, and collaboration was a distant dream. Our solution transformed this landscape by deploying interconnected portals that allow each agency to secure and manage its own data while sharing it selectively. This approach opened vital lines of communication, fostering trust where skepticism once reigned. As agencies began to see the benefits of real-time, secure data exchange, workflows accelerated, and productivity soared. The portals turned isolation into collaboration, proving that shared technology can bridge divides and unite a county for the common good.
Technology Implemented
We harnessed ArcGIS Enterprise as the backbone of our framework, powering five distinct Portal for ArcGIS instances to meet agency-specific needs. ArcGIS Pro enabled advanced data management and visualization, while ArcGIS Online facilitated broader access and sharing. Together, these tools created a secure, scalable solution that transformed Mobile County’s geospatial capabilities.
