Project Goal
Electricity Distribution Company needs to collect the geographical and technical data of its existing and new (MV/LV) substations in addition to LV meters, store that data on a single platform- ArcGIS, and facilitate integration with other platforms.Business Problem Solved
1- Replace the human-made paper forms, which are being issued by EDCO’s maintenance teams when a new substation is being commissioned or upgraded. The format of the “New Substation Operation Notice” was set on the application to help EDCO’s field personnel get printable versions of the reports in a format that matches the ISO standard applied at EDCO.
2- Update the ArcGIS Desktop database with the new features (substations) immediately after adding/ modifying them on the Electric Network.
3- Create a comprehensive database of the substations and their relevant data (Work order number, manufacturer, commissioning date, …etc.) and make it available for all non-GIS users. This database will help in providing a complete history of the substations: dates of operations/ maintenance/ upgrades.
4- Provide a user-friendly way for personnel with little or no technical background.
5- Initiate a customer database on the ArcGIS Desktop and make it integrative with other Metering environments.
