Project Goal
The goal of the Digital Atlas of Australia is to empower smarter, faster place-based decisions by transforming the Australia’s geospatial capabilities. As Australia’s first national Integrated Geospatial Infrastructure, the Digital Atlas enables seamless data integration and sharing across borders, systems, portals, and technologies. Through innovation and collaboration, it is transforming how geospatial data is accessed and used to drive better outcomes.Business Problem Solved
With vast amounts of data scattered across disconnected silos, finding and using reliable, timely, and relevant information is a major challenge. Governments, businesses, and communities need seamless access to trusted national data to make informed decisions. The Digital Atlas overcomes this challenge by unifying diverse datasets, enabling interoperability across systems, and delivering a robust geospatial capability that supports meaningful place-based insights.
Technology Implemented
The Digital Atlas uses Esri technology through a cloud-based architecture with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise at its core. It also uses several other Esri tools and services to enhance user experience and ensure accessibility for all users. Notably, the Digital Atlas leverages ArcGIS Hub for sharing content, ArcGIS Experience Builder for creating custom user-friendly web applications, and ArcGIS StoryMaps for crafting narrative-driven maps.
Using an intuitive out of the box set up, combined with apps and a user centric design, the Digital Atlas allows all users - no matter their experience – to access, use and understand geospatial information easily.
