Business Problem Solved

The Covid map enabled AAA and CAA members and club counselors to mitigate the impact on travel. Members and counselors could use the data in this map to focus on auto travel routing and planning which included US, Mexico and Canada border crossing information, restaurant and gathering capacity restrictions, curfews, travel checkpoints, airport restrictions, state park closing, national park information, mask restrictions and Covid-19 case count, as well as providing state and local websites for easy access and updates.

The learning experiences from building the Covid map propelled the team to set up GIS Enterprise, create Story Maps, do marketing analysis, create dashboards and analytics and proof of concept development for several different departments outside the travel business line.

Technology Implemented

The Covid map was developed with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro to organize the data, Web AppBuilder to create the web application, and Living Atlas to add the Johns Hopkins data. The base map is the ESRI Streets map, all coordinated in partnership with Esri.

Survey 123, Story Maps, Business Analyst and dashboards were components that were used to develop other projects.
