Linn County Public Health

Project Goal

In 2020, Linn County responded to two major events, the COVID-19 pandemic as well as an inland hurricane (known as a Derecho) that turned the community upside down. Throughout both events, the goal was to keep the community safe, monitor and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, maintain local transparency through timely data and communication, and ensure resources were allocated to those in need. Following the release of the COVID-19 vaccine, additional need was identified to support vaccine allocation decisions and to track distribution of prime and booster doses. To support these goals, Linn County Public Health turned to the resources already available.

A second need was to protect first responders being deployed. COVID-19 data was populated in an AGOL map and provided to dispatchers for notification of response. To enable local data transparency and mitigation guidance, two Hubs were created: www.linncounty.org/1372/COVID-19. A business vaccine registry was developed and embedded in a dashboard for team access.

A survey was developed to identify needs. Connection between Survey123 and PowerAutomate enabled logical distribution of the identified needs to the correct resource(s). Many maps were created to inform food & information (language specific) distribution during both even
