Project Goal

During the outbreak of the Global Pandemic, GHS sought to utilize the most responsive health platform for monitoring the fight against COVID-19, hence the integration of ArcGIS Systems into their workflow. The main project goal for adopting esri's technology was to use GIS to provide evidence based interventions aimed at controlling the current and future epidemics

Business Problem Solved

We prioritized controlling the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana. GHS prudently used ArcGIS to perform a series of data collection and analysis to draw concrete reports on the spread of COVID-19 within the country as these reports became very essential in the validation of all policies made by the government in relation to the pandemic. Some of the workflows include:
• Contact Tracing: Tracking, locating and recording the coordinates of all potentially infected people.
• Data Collection: Collected tangible data from everyone tracked. All cases were recorded and successfully uploaded onto ArcGIS for further processing.
• Hotspot Analysis: Some of the analysis performed include spatial analysis using Kernel Density Estimation and Moran’s I
• Mapping of Testing Sites: The system was used to map out testing sites to guide health officials on their work.
• Realtime Outbreak and Visualization: Basically visualizing all the data in near-Realtime Public and Internal use.

Technology Implemented

We made use of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
