Project Goal

Carmabi foundation started in 2019 to bundle years and years of historic spatial data on a range of research topics into comprehensible and easily interpretable maps and databases. As a national park management authority and scientific research institute, spatial data is of great importance. We have collected, digitized and safeguarded historic maps and made the collection readily usable out in the field. We have worked on spatial data ranging from Digital Elevation models and derivatives, geology, soil, hydrology, vegetation, fauna distribution, bathymetry, benthic cover, urban development and zonal planning and more for the six islands of the Dutch Caribbean (Aruba, Bonaire, CuraƧao, Saba, St. Maarten and St. Eustatius).
