Project Goal

The Technical Services Department in the City of Worcester has begun a comprehensive expansion of the GIS program including additional GIS staff, designing and implementing a new architecture, and undertaking the development of a Geospatial Strategy complimenting the recently completed IT Strategic Plan. A key element of the GIS plan is formal engagement with City departments to identify key responsibilities and needs that GIS can help address. A GIS governance structure will be established and a formal City GIS user group launched.

Business Problem Solved

The GIS migration and modernization project will allow Technical Services to keep current on GIS software while enabling greater access to GIS solutions for more City employees. Deployment and full use of ArcGIS Enterprise at City and departmental levels will increase adoption of GIS technologies to serve business needs. The GIS Strategic Plan will facilitate communication across departments and help prioritize GIS resources.
