Project Goal

To provide the Virginia COVID-19 Unified Command a single location to view response information geographically as well as providing easy to use tools for data entry and management.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) provided and coordinated GIS support for the Virginia Emergency Support Team (VEST) for the State’s COVID19 response and response to other major incidents impacting the Commonwealth.

Business Problem Solved

How to efficiently streamline data collection, data management and display of multiple simultaneous efforts across the Virginia Emergency Support Team (VEST), which encompassed multiple state agencies and private partners. Some of the data collection efforts included weekly PPE needs from over 600 entities, executive level tracking of PPE and offers of assistance from the private sector.
