Project Goal

Haya Water Management needed an Intelligent solution to monitor the Progress of the Road Excavations during the Execution of Sewer Network Construction Project. The Company is engaged with more than 50 Contractors working simultaneously in various areas of Muscat. It was very difficult to monitor the Road Reinstatement progress manually. Many times the Road Reinstatement deadlines were missed. Hence there was an immediate need for a tailor-made Application that would help in effectively Monitoring the Temporary and Permanent Road Reinstatement progress.

The Image and reputation of Haya Water is at stake if the road excavation and trenching works are not completed on time. This is very critical and poses risk to the society and causes traffic problems. Hence Haya Leadership requested an intelligent Solution to resolve this Big Problem urgently. GIS Team at Haya Water gave them the Road Trenching and Reinstating Monitoring System (TRMS).

Business Problem Solved

Haya Water Management uses the Trenches & Road Monitoring System (TRMS) Application to monitor their Contractors' progress of the Road Excavations and Reinstatement works and maintain up-to-date status at all times, as the Road Excavations and Reinstatements were causing Haya Water a great deal of issues with the Authorities and Property owners, due to delays in reinstatement caused by Haya Water Contractors. Asset Information were given the Task of finding and researching for a Spatial Solution to this problem. A web based GIS Application based on WebOffice and Esri ArcGIS was selected. The key functionality of the TRMS application is to track status, time monitoring, issue e-mail notifications in case of delays, inspector approvals of the reinstatement, generate custom reports and provide a high level Dashboard for Haya Water Management.

Technology Implemented

Fast Delivery of the Project was paramount. From the Market Research, not many vendors had a Solution that can be fully customized in a short period of time, as they all needed to be developed from scratch, which is very time consuming. WebOffice based on Esri Technology was the only solution that was committed to the stipulated timeframe.
WebOffice is purely a configuration based Application and doesn’t require any Coding. Hence it is more reliable and is not dependent on an individual with specific Coding skills. The Application is highly customizable to business workflows and is built on top of Esri ArcGIS.

Development Team Biography

Project Manager:
Kiran S. Kuwalekar, Sr. GIS DB Analyst, has successfully executed many GIS Projects for Haya Water. He is mainly involved in Users Need Study and interacted with different Project teams for collecting Process Information and Sample Data. He was also involved in Database Designing and Application Testing. He worked closely with the Esri Support Team for hosting the application.
