Project Goal

Since deploying a GIS-based technology for the first time in 1990, Incheon Metropolitan City kept pace with technological advances during the last two decades and currently operates an array of GIS-based systems. In its latest enhancement to mission-critical GIS systems, the City deployed the ArcGIS platform in order to satisfy the growing demand for government data and services with greater agility and to enhance enterprise collaboration and efficiency through a unified system of engagement.

Business Problem Solved

- Information Service during the 2014 Asian Games. (Preferred)
Provided athletes, journalists, and citizens with relevant information during the Games. After the Games, the service was converted to other suitable citizen information services.
- Citizen Information Service
Improve the quality of citizen information services, such as cadastral information, land value assessment, real estate sale prices, etc by being able to publish and share data immediately with the public. (Planned)
- WebGIS-based Permitting System
Increased work efficiency by transforming what used to be an offline workflow to an online environment by leveraging WebGIS.
- Upgraded Facility Management System using Portal for ArcGIS
Replaced the legacy facility management system with a new system based on Portal for ArcGIS. Currently training users and administrators.
Developing new use case scenarios, contents, and app to increase utilization rate.

Development Team Biography

Incheon Metropolitan City’s Land Administration Department is composed of six teams and is responsible for maintaining all geographic data and GIS-based systems in the City. The teams also collaborate with external teams like the map planning team to develop and operate services like aerial imagery, road/water/sewage information service, etc.
