Project Goal
Last year, Maricopa County improved upon the foundation of an already strong GIS program by expanding its use within many departments to support business decisions, improve communication and workflows, and engage citizens. While simultaneously leveraging EEAP to strengthen the County’s internal IT infrastructure and plan for the move to a virtual environment, the County adopted a more comprehensive WebGIS approach. This resulted in a new GIS map gallery, completion of plans for an Open Data Portal (coming later this year), and development/publication of numerous Web applications for targeted business purposes.Business Problem Solved
Multiple business process improvements and strategic initiatives were addressed through these various projects.
Public Health internal Web applications/maps for assessing heat-related deaths (by year), influenza cases, life expectancy and service areas, and an emergency preparedness and response planner showing response resources.
Senior and Adult Services Division of Human Services application for mapping case locations and routing Case Workers.
Parks and Trails Locater.
Mobile application showing restaurant locations, inspection ratings, recommendations, and complaints across the County.
Assisted Emergency Management with developing an internal evacuation application for at risk populations within 10 mile radius of a nuclear power plant.
Long Range Transportation System Plan application
