Project Goal

The NSTA regulates and influences the oil and gas, offshore hydrogen and carbon storage industries in the UK’s continental shelf. It works with government, industry and other regulators to accelerate the move to net zero while meeting the UK’s energy demand and security and reducing emissions. Leveraging the geospatial element of the vital information, held and managed by the NSTA’s ArcGIS infrastructure, ensures informed decisions are made about the future of the industry.

Business Problem Solved

The NSTA has a vast range of users, internal and external, that have many different disciplinary backgrounds sitting across the full spectrum of digital knowledge and capability. We need to share hundreds of datasets, documents and mapping applications with this audience in a way that can be easily discoverable, accessible, understandable and reusable. This will help drive the industry to achieve our goals of energy security and net zero.

Technology Implemented

The NSTA employs a range of Esri products, focusing on ArcGIS Hub for sharing and collaborating with government, industry and academia. In addition, internally we use a number of ESRI tools to curate our authoritative datasets including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, ArcPro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Enterprise Database.
