Project Goal
Create a unified enterprise GIS platform at the Port of LA where all business units want to contribute their GIS data and participate in the overall GIS vision.Business Problem Solved
We created a GIS environment where all staff and business units can contribute and collaborate. GIS portals were created for business units with GIS savvy staff to create/manage their divisions GIS data layers, apps, and projects. We created GIS apps for non-GIS savvy staff to contribute and manage their own GIS data. They use those apps to create polygons or points and assign ID’s which connect that spatial data to tabular data. That data is then shared to all business units. If data is classified or secure, rights are administered through active directory groups. We have essentially created a GIS “sandbox” where everyone can come and create their GIS castles together whether they are GIS beginners or professionals.
